Sonora.ID – Berikut ini lirik lagu ‘Holiday’ yang dinyanyikan oleh Green Day yang dirilis pada 20 September 2004 silam.
"Holiday" adalah lagu antiperang yang mengkritik perang Amerika di Irak, sekaligus merefleksikan dan membangun karakter utama American Idiot. Lagu ini melanjutkan kisah Jesus of Suburbia saat ia meninggalkan rumah pinggiran kotanya dan menjelajah ke kota.
Lagu itu sendiri sebagian besar merupakan protes antiperang dengan beberapa penyebutan khusus terhadap pemerintahan Bush karena mengembalikan AS ke konflik Timur Tengah. Lagu itu mendesak orang-orang untuk menentang perang daripada mengabaikannya.
Mengenai alur cerita utama album ini, liriknya menunjukkan bagaimana Jesus dari Suburbia baru saja meninggalkan kota dan menjalani hidupnya di jalanan. Meskipun awalnya ia bersenang-senang, kehidupan ini membebani dirinya dan ia mencoba meyakinkan dirinya sendiri tentang alasan ia pergi.
Akhir lagu tersebut memudar menjadi lagu berikutnya, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" . Hal ini tercermin dalam kedua video musik mereka, di mana "Holiday" berakhir dengan mobil band yang mogok sementara "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" dimulai dengan band yang berjalan menjauh dari mobil yang sama.
