Seperti diberitakan Music Rooms, Katy mengungkapkan bahwa single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" merupakan inspirasi dari cerita seru dirinya dan teman-temannya saat menikmati pesta pora di Santa Barbara, California. 

Katy mengatakan bahwa sebagian besar lagu diangkat dari kebenaran yang ada, sama seperti cerita pesta pora yang mereka lakukan di taman.
