With this letter, I would like to express my interest in studying at the University of Stalbarg, London as an Erasmus student.

I am currently studying Master’s Degree programme in Regional Geography at the State University of Solok, in Indonesia. I have decided to apply for this programmebecause I am sure it would strongly enrich my future studiesand help me in my prospective career. Moreover I considerthis programme as a great opportunity to get in touch withBritish culture and educational system. Last but not least, Iam very curious about different approaches to thegeography at the foreign university.

I have chosen to apply for University of Helsinki, because Ireally like its module system of study. I specially appreciate the wide range of offered modules and the freedom in making your study plan. Many of the modules offered are unique for me, because there is no equivalent at my home university. Very important for me is also an “Excellent” rating for teaching of the Geography department and the overall friendly atmosphere at both the university as well asthe city. The third main reason why I have chosen Helsinki isits Urban and Regional Policy Research Institute. It specializes in interdisciplinary research on key regional andurban policy issues, which is the field of geography very familiar to me.

During my prior studies I have found out, that I would like to specialize in Urban and Transport Geography. The University of Helsinki gives me a chance to get in touch with these subjects through modules from both Department of Geography and Department of Town and Regional Planning. In my last year at the ABC University I worked on anempirical study with main focus on transportation costs of suburbanisation and urban sprawl. I really liked my projectand I am keen to continue in it. I would like to use my stay in Helsinki for further developing my skills in empirical researchand starting working on my diploma project. The possibilities that gives me University of Helsinki further expand those at my home university. I would take modules focusing on Transport and Urban geography and European Studies.

I would very much like to spend a study at the University of Helsinki. This would give me a chance to deepen my geographical knowledge in the inspiring, creative, and cosmopolite environment of one of the largest British universities. Moreover, I am confident that my experience in London would be extremely exciting, fun, and valuable forboth my studies and overall general development.

With this letter, I am applying for a position in the Masters of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL), offered at Newcastle University. With my current experienceas a teacher who has joined a teacher internship in Thailand in 2017, I wish to expand my English skill and teaching and turn my focus towards on teaching English among students. By reading the course curriculum available online, I have read that the subject material covered will best suit my career goals as an English educator.

I have chosen to apply my master at Newcastle University because I really like the style, system, and program of the study in TESOL. The main reason why I choose Newcastle University because this university provides the best system of teaching that I can study and explore more. At this university, I will find out and study that there are a lot of techniques or methods I can use for teaching English in the classroom. Moreover, there are lots of journals which contain TESOL program that have been uploaded by Newcastle University.

During my teaching experience before, I have found a lot of problem between the students and the English subject it self. For instance in Thailand or Indonesia, the students seem like they are lacking of motivation in studying English. Some problems they may face like English is difficult, the teacheris very boring when delivering the materials, they cannot speak English fluently, etc. Based on those cases, I wonderwhat kind of techniques that the teachers can use in orderto raise students’ motivation in studying English. In the end, my concern in doing teaching internship was about teaching techniques I could apply to help the students in studying English.

I really would like to study my TESOL program in Newcastle University because it would give me so many chances and knowledge about teaching English in interesting, inspiring, creative, and wonderful ways. Thank you in advance for considering my application.
