Melansir Genius, “The Monster” adalah single keempat Eminem dari The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Kebetulan, ini juga menandai keempat kalinya Eminem dan Rihanna berkolaborasi.

Lagu yang kelam dan emosional ini membuat Eminem menganggap alter ego Shady-nya sebagai monster. Monster itu bisa juga adalah ketenaran yang telah merampas begitu banyak darinya, atau mungkin monster sebenarnya adalah pikirannya dan iblis yang mengganggunya.
