Ciri-ciri Narrative Text

• Berfokus pada satu tokoh atau pelaku dan biasanya individual sehingga biasanya menggunakan kata ganti seperti I, we, she, and he.
• Sering menggunakan past tense baik itu simple past tense, past continuous, maupun bentuk past tense lainnya.
• Terkadang menggunakan dialog untuk mengajak pembaca berimajinasi sehingga ceritanya nampak lebih jelas dan nyata.
• Menggunakan kata sambung (conjunction) agar cerita terlihat urut.

Contoh 1

The Ant And The Dove

One day, there was an ant who lived next to the river. He walked to the riverside to drink some water. But, he fell into the water and almost died, he screamed out “help.. help me!”. At the moment, a dove saw the ant and he wanted to save him. He threw a leaf to the river to safe the ant. The ant thankful to the dove “thank you so much for saving my life”, then the dove flew away.

Unfortunately, a hunter saw the dove, and he wanted to shot him. Lucky, the ant saw the hunter, and knew that the dove was in danger. So, the ant bite the hunter’s foot to save the dove, “ouch, my foot. It’s so hurt!”. Suddenly, the hunter dropped his gun because of the pain.

The dove heard the hunter’s screamed, soon he flew away safely. He wanted to thank the ant for saving his life, “thank you, you also safe my life”. The ant and the dove smiled and thankful for each other.

King Arthur and Excalibur

King Arthur was a legendary king of Britain who ruled in the 5th or 6th century. He was known for his bravery and his knights of the Round Table. One of his most famous stories is about his sword, Excalibur, which he received from the Lady of the Lake. The sword was said to be magical and could only be wielded by the true king of Britain. With Excalibur, King Arthur was able to defeat his enemies and rule justly.

Romeo and Juliet

"Romeo and Juliet" is a tragic play by William Shakespeare about two young lovers from feuding families. Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love at a masquerade ball, but their families' hatred prevents them from being together.

They secretly marry but are separated when Romeo is banished from the city. Juliet fakes her death to avoid marrying another man, but Romeo believes she is really dead and takes his own life. When Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo dead beside her, she stabs herself. The tragic end of "Romeo and Juliet" is a powerful exploration of the themes of love, family, and fate.
